Galicia Holiday currently manages 88 properties over Galicia in northern Spain. Most are along the attractive coastal areas of Rias Baixas, Da Morte and Santiago as well as the interior of the province of Pontevedra.
Six years ago, the company adopted Kigo’s Legacy platform to improve bookings and operations as the vacation rental industry started gaining traction. Now, the market has matured and Business Development Manager Patricia Lopez felt Galicia Holiday needed additional functionality. She took a look at other property management solutions but found that upgrading Kigo Marketplace was the answer.
“One of the reasons is because the market and the trends are changing a lot and we see Kigo Marketplace as being much more modern,” she said at KigoWorld earlier this year. “It has more functions in terms of being able to use videos, being connected to other channels and being able to use social media in a better way.”
Reaching more vacation rental guests
Lopez said Kigo is helping Galicia Holiday better position itself to meet growing demand as tourists flock to the area’s fishing villages, white-sand coves and lush interior. The destination has been rated as one of the best places to eat seafood and welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, mostly June through September.
Galicia, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea, has its own language and unique culture. Santiago de Compostela, the capital, is a popular vacation destination for the more than 10 million who visit each year. Of course, many of these visitors look to stay in a vacation rental.
Unifying processes to effectively manage every vacation rental property
Galicia Holiday specializes in holiday rentals that include 18 luxury rentals. Most of the properties, Lopez said, are owned by individuals who typically are not full-time vacation rental developers, and they rely on the property manager to fill vacant nights, drive booking growth and generate strong income.
Using Kigo’s single platform allows Galicia Holiday to unify all of the processes associated with vacation rental management and serve its owners and guests. Lopez is a fan of the guest experience and owner experience apps.
Managing the experience from check-in to check-out
Integrating Galicia Holiday’s website with the booking platform has enabled a one-stop shop for guests and automated processes so that Galicia Holiday can better manage the vacation rental experience from check-in to check-out. Keeping up-to-date with all of the details is how Galicia Holiday is staying one step ahead of competition from other management companies.
“The competition is brutal. And our objective is to stand out from the competition. We know we need to collaborate with other channel managers and big platforms like Airbnb, Home Away, Booking.com, etc. But we want to stand out in some way.”
