Tell us about yourself!

My name is Aldo, and I was born in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. At the age of ten, I was fortunate enough to immigrate to the United States. I studied Finance at Florida International University.  I recently moved to Dallas, Texas with my fiancé, and I have a beautiful eleven year-old daughter and a nine pound wiener dog. In my free time, I love traveling, trying new restaurants and watching Netflix with the family.

What is your role at Kigo?

I am currently a Business Analyst/Product Manager/Project Manager for the core Kigo platform. My duties range from helping our teams make more data-driven decisions to creating specifications for new features, to making sure projects are completed in a timely manner. Since I started at Kigo in May 2014, I have helped our clients by providing better tools for reporting, which helps them both increase their overall occupancy as well as revenue. I’ve always believed that being client-focused and allowing our clients to participate in the evolution of Kigo is key to being the best short-term rental software in the industry.

What do you love about your job?

There’s nothing like feeling a sense of accomplishment when I am up against a deadline with only have one shot to get it right and it turns out better than we could have imagined. I love my job because everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to the mission. This truly creates a family environment where everybody is there for each other.

What makes Kigo stand out from the competition?

Simple—the Kigo community. At Kigo, we listen to our clients and build relationships that go beyond the boundaries of work.

What is your favorite feature of Kigo?

Without being too biased, I would have to go with the occupancy dashboard. This dashboard empowers our clients to have all the data they need to make impactful decisions at a glance.

How is Kigo changing the vacation rental industry?

From my point of view, Kigo is the leading short-term rental software in the industry. We are spearheading the industry by constantly adopting new technologies to streamline business processes, developing strong relationships with clients, and taking advantage of emerging trends.

How does your hobby/passion translate into your role at Kigo?

I love traveling and know the pains it sometimes entails. Being able to experience things as a guest truly makes me see things completely different and understand exactly what our clients do at a much deeper level.

How do you approach finding places to stay when you travel?

Usually when I travel, I like to look at different sites to see which offer me a better deal. I find myself booking more and more through Airbnb mainly for the ease of use aspect, as well as the ability to communicate with the property owner quickly and effortlessly. When I plan a trip, the part that usually takes the most time is researching the place to stay. I like to read multiple reviews from different sites to really understand if this is the right place for me and my family.

What do you look for in a vacation rental?  What do you avoid?

To summarize both those questions, cleanliness makes or breaks my experience when looking to stay somewhere. Before I say somewhere, I usually do my research. I read reviews and speak with the owners to make sure both my family and I have a pleasant time without having to worry about anything.

How can property owners make their vacation rentals more appealing to travelers like yourself?

In my opinion, the key goal of a vacation rental should be to offer comfort and convenience which travelers would expect in their own homes while tending to the small details which will exceed their expectations.

As we continue to explore the Faces of Kigo, you will meet more members of our global team working every day to create the best products in travel. Stay tuned!
