Vacation Rental Marketing: 5 Link Building Tips for SEO

SEO Marketing Tips: Inbound LinksIt’s every marketers goal: have your website listed on the first page of search engines, like Google. A big factor when it comes to ranking high on search engines is Page Rank. Page Rank is determined by the number of backlinks (outside websites that link to your website, also known as inbound links).

Page Rank is generally between 0-10, with 0 meaning you are not listed on Google and 10 being reserved for the few elite like Google, Microsoft and Apple. As a vacation rental website you should aim at obtaining a Page Rank of 5 meaning you are good and will most likely appear in the first page of Google.  You can check your page rank by visiting Page Rank Checker.

Since Page Rank plays such an important role in determining your search engine ranking, you need to ensure that you are receiving quality links from external websites. Below are a few tips to help you obtain backlinks and increase your ranking:

1- Community Forum Participation

As a vacation rental agency/owner you are most likely an expert of your local area. Help others out while building links by responding to questions on travel forums.  Make sure your responses are genuine and place your website link at the end of your comment.

2- Speak at a Conference

Is there a local TEDx event, a regional conference for vacation rental owners, an exhibit about one of your hobbies in your city? Try and grab a speaker spot at these events. Not only will this be a great networking opportunity, but will also open avenues for link building. Event websites and bloggers almost always include a bio on their speakers with a link to their websites.

3- Videos

As we mentioned in our previous blog post, videos are extremely valuable when it comes to marketing your agency. With videos you will be able to provide great content and build links at the same time. Make sure all your Vimeo or Youtube videos include a link to your website in the description.

4- Guest Blogging

For those of you unfamiliar with guest blogging, it is when you write a blog post for an external website. Reach out to travel, vacation rental or tourism websites and offer to write a blog post for them. They will appreciate having content and you can place a link to your website for a quality backlink. Again, make sure your post is informational, not a promotion of your agency.

5- Social Media

With social media growing in importance, search engines will slowly start to factor in social media “shares” in their page rank algorithm. Post great content on your blog and share them on social media channels: Facebook pages, Twitter, Google +, and LinkedIn vacation rental groups are great places to share your content.

Never Ever Buy Links!

We cannot iterate the importance of not buying links. There are numerous websites that sell hundreds and thousands of links for cheap. Google is raging a war against these fake links and is deleting websites that purchase links from their directory (If you are not indexed by websites like Google, you might as well not have a website).

There are numerous other ways in which you can build quality links to your website. Be sure to subscribe to our blog so that you can receive the latest SEO tips for link building. If you have any questions or want to share your own backlink tip, be sure to comment below!
