Tell us about yourself!
My name is Margherita, and I was born and raised in Italy. I studied languages (Spanish and Chinese) at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”. I have a master's degree in translation and localization. Over the course of my career, I have worked as an Export Director for Italian and Asian markets, a Spanish teacher, and a customer service representative.
I moved to Barcelona a few years ago, and for me, it is the most cosmopolitan, modern and avant-garde city in Spain. I really love this city, moreover living just 2 hours away from my family and friends makes it the perfect place to be. In my free time, I love travelling and discover new cultures. I also love spending time with my boyfriend, friends and my two cats! I am a very sporty woman. I enjoy running, biking and above all squash! I love trying new vegan restaurants and enjoy cooking.
What is your role at Kigo?
I started working for Kigo, a RealPage company in May 2017 as an Implementation Consultant for the Spanish and Italian markets. The Implementation Consultant is responsible for the effective on-boarding of new clients. I believe I help Kigo customers succeed by understanding and managing their expectations.
Why do you do your job? What do you like about it?
It is so gratifying to have a job that is about helping people become more successful. I really enjoy working with my coworkers in this young and fast-growing company. We have an important mission in common: building and maintaining strong and long-lasting client relationships.
What makes Kigo stand out from the competition?
Innovation and people. The Kigo team is made up of dedicated people who work hard to make sure clients are successful.
What is your favorite feature of Kigo? How does it help VRs do their jobs better?
I think one of the best features we have is our Channel Manager. It allows vacation rental professionals to distribute their properties across the industry through more than 30 vacation rental listing portals like Only-apartments, Airbnb, HomeAway, and Booking.com.
How is Kigo changing the vacation rental industry?
From the very beginning, Kigo has changed how property managers could distribute and manage their properties. This philosophy is reflected in the new developments of the company, especially in the ongoing improvements of the platform and in the new tools available for property managers, like Kigo Revenue Management.
How do you approach finding places to stay when you travel?
I look for something where I can find activities or places to explore. When I travel, I want to be able to experience the locale.
What do you look for in a vacation rental? What do you avoid?
I often choose places that have basic everyday comforts because the most important thing for me is feeling like a local. I really appreciate property managers who provide me with extra information about the area, restaurants and activities.
How can property owners make their vacation rentals more appealing to travelers like yourself?
Nice pictures and positive reviews are key, but communication is even more important. Provide the most information possible, with details on everything from check-in times to how to get the keys.
As we continue to explore the Faces of Kigo, you will meet more members of our global team working every day to create the best products in travel. Stay tuned!
