The Faces of Kigo: Meet Gabriella Porcu

"Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living." -Mary Ritter Beard

A love for travel has shaped the way our employees live and work. We created the Faces of Kigo series to showcase these individuals, tell their stories, and share why they love being a part of the Kigo team.

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Gabriella. I’m Italian, from Sardinia and arrived in Barcelona 10 years ago. I have a master in tourism, more than 8 years experience in the travel industry and traveling is my real passion, along with photography and sport.

What is your role at Kigo?

I work as an Account Executive for the Italian market.

Why do you do your job? What do you like about it?

Before I started at Kigo, I was already familiar with it due to past work experience in portals for the vacation rental industry all over the world. Kigo was one of the channel managers used by our clients and the one I always recommended to companies looking for channel management. I joined Kigo because I love the industry, understand the needs of clients in our industry, and appreciate the opportunity to grow in a well-established company. I enjoy suggesting the right solutions to our clients and sharing a product which can make their lives easier and happier.

How do you approach finding places to stay when you travel?

This really depends from where I am traveling. Most of the time, if possible, I try to not plan too much and book only the first night (usually on Booking.com). I decide where to go and what to do once I’m in the place I am visiting, based on feelings, suggestions from locals, events, neighbourhoods I see and like, etc.

What do you look for in a vacation rental? What do you avoid?

I am very flexible, and my main concern is being in a clean place. I spend most of the time outside while I am on holiday so I don’t need much more than a clean and comfortable place. I like the feeling of living like a local so I tried to avoid big residences full of tourists.

How can property owners make their vacation rentals more appealing to travelers like yourself?

Being flexible with check in and check out time and offering “unique” extra services.

As we continue to explore the Faces of Kigo, you will meet more members of our global team working every day to create the best products in travel. Stay tuned!
